There has been much controversy surrounding the cure and vaccine of the new Coronovirus Covid19. Although there hasn’t been a vaccine created yet, but a question that everyone needs to the know the answer for, is there a cure for Coronavirus ?
Hydroxychloroquine
Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), is a medication used to prevent and treat malaria. Other uses include treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and porphyria cutanea tarda. It is also being studied as an experimental treatment for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
As of Feb. 23, seven clinical trials had been registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry to test whether COVID-19 infections could be treated with hydroxychloroquine. In addition, the University of Minnesota is studying whether taking hydroxychloroquine can protect people living with infected COVID-19 patients from catching the virus themselves.
In one heavily referenced study, conducted in France, a small number of patients with COVID-19 received either hydroxychloroquine alone or hydroxychloroquine in combination with an antibiotic called azithromycin. The authors reported that detectable concentrations of SARS-CoV-2 fell significantly faster in the study participants than coronavirus patients at other French hospitals who did not receive either drug. In six patients also given azithromycin, this promising effect appeared to be amplified.
FDA Approval
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has now approved Hydroxychloroquine for emergency use and distribution. “It is reasonable to believe that chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine sulfate may be effective in treating covid-19,” the FDA’s chief scientist, Denise Hinton, wrote in a letter granting emergency approval.
Health experts warn however the drugs’ well-known side effects could become commonplace with wide use. In particular, they say, patients with existing heart problems or taking certain drugs, such as anti-depressants that affect heart rhythm, are at risk of a fatal episode. Experts recommend screening before the drugs are prescribed to prevent drug-related deaths.
Steroids
After months of suffering from the global spread of the coronavirus and a mounting global death toll, a glimmer of hope arrives. Researchers announced that dexamethasone, a cheap, widely available corticosteroid, significantly reduced deaths of severely sick COVID-19 patients in a major clinical trial. Although full trial data have not yet been released, several outside commentators hailed the result as a “breakthrough.” (Trusted Source)
“These are really surprising, but really very convincing results,” says Martin Landray of the University of Oxford, one of the principle investigators of the Recovery trial in the United Kingdom that evaluated the steroid
Are there any Natural Alternatives for Preventing or Curing Corona ?
Arsenicum Albium 30c
The Indian government’s Ministry of AYUSH, which promotes alternative medicine systems in the country, released a health advisory on January 29 that advocates the use of homeopathy and traditional remedies, such as Indian systems of medicine, to ward off infections of the newly circulating 2019-nCoV coronavirus. This includes the use of a homeopathic preparation called Arsenicum album 30C and two drops of sesame oil in each nostril each morning for prevention, and Unani medicines (treatments based on the teachings of Hippocrates and Galen). You can easily get hold of Arsen Alb. 30C online.
Nigella sativa
Nigella Sativa (NS) is a popularly used medicinal plant throughout the world in various traditional systems of medicine like Unani, Tibb, Ayurveda and Sidha. Native to South and West Asia, NS is also known as Black Cumin, Nigella, Kalojeere, and Kalonji.
The medicinal properties of NS also known as Al-Habba Al-Sauda and Al-Habba Al-Barakah in Arabic were mentioned by Avicenna (Ibn Sina) in his book “Canon of Medicine”.
The antioxidant, anti-allergenic and anti-inflammatory properties of black seed oil come from three powerful natural phytochemicals present in it; Thymoquinone (TQ), thymohydroquinone (THQ) and Thymol. TQ can reduce inflammation and swelling while Thymol is a disinfectant and anti-microbial. Another compound called nigellone is an antihistamine agent that gives the oil its anti-allergenic properties.
Immune modulation is the regulatory adjustment of the immune system. Nobody knows how long will the COVID-19 situation last. Reports have suggested that one of the three methods that can prevent the infection is immune modulation; vaccine and improvement in human behaviour, personal hygiene being the others.
Thymoquinone (TQ) is an abundant component of Nigella Sativa seed oil extract. TQ is known to inhibit TNF-α-induced inflammation. TQ is known for its lymphoprotective activity and immune modulation. Another major concern for doctors has been the effect on kidney and testes.
TQ is not only a pulmonary protective but also a nephroprotective in diseases caused by inflammation and oxidative stress, additionally it’s also known for its testicular protective function.
The component TQ in the seed oil of Nigella Sativa is known for its intense immune-modulatory benefits. The anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immune-modulatory actions of Nigella Sativa have resulted in preventive and bronchodilatory effects on obstructive respiratory diseases.
A study published in the Journal of Molecular Biology Reports in 2014 concluded that treatment of cells with NS extracts prior to infection with CoV decreased replication of the virus.
This is the time that doctors and scientists take note of this natural wonder and other key vitamins that support a healthy immune system function and try to decelerate the COVID-19 pandemic.
You can find various forms and brands of Nigella Sativa online.
As Homeopathy and Natural remedies and the right Vitamins are aimed at strenghtening your bodies immune system function to fight off diseases, should we not take advantage of this knowledge to protect ourselves and our families ?
Timely post and it clears up some of the confusion. The virus new & conversation will dominate much of our lives for this year and possibly beyond. THis type of information is important and appreciated. Thank you
Bob
Thanks Bob, I’m glad you found the info usefull, just doing my bit to help, really appreciate your comment and support.
Cheers,
Mo.
This is some great information! I didn’t know that there was anything showing any promise yet.
When I was overseas on deployment, I was on an Anti-Malarial drug for 6 months. I can’t remember what it was called, but I’ll have to double check. I may have some left!
Thanks for the info! I’m sure many people will benefit from this information, especially if they are living with someone who has been overseas recently, or is high risk!
Cheers,
Koda
Thanks Koda..there are a few anti-malaria medicines several of them end with ‘quine’ which are related to the same family. Ofcourse always consult with your local Doctor for the right diagnosis, medication and dosage before taking any prescription drugs.
All the best,
Mo
Hi, I liked your post for natural cures. I hope that soon they will find one to put to prevent covid-19. Keep us updated. 😁👍
Yes, hopefully they will make a vaccine soon but there is no harm in using natural products to help our immume system which is considered by some as a form of preventative measure.
Will keep you updated with the latest!
All the best,
Mo
Wonderful and informing article! I did find it interesting that Elon Musk was the one to suggest that Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) could be effective in treating the coronavirus.
I hadn’t heard of Nigella Sativa before, but it sounds like it has been well researched and is a product worth trying out.
Thank you for writing this article!
Thanks for your valuable comment Elise, I’m glad you enjoyed the article and found it usefull.
Wishing you all the best.

Wow very informative post and so timely. Natural medicines whether for preventative measures or as a possible cure is always the best route in my mind. While I am no doctor or scientist, it makes sense to me that natural remedies be sought out before chemical or man made drugs. Thanks for this ray of hope in a gloomy situation.
Thank you Richard, I’m glad the article resonates with what you already beleive in. Thank you also for your valuable and gracefully expressed opinion on the subject.
Wishing you the best of health and please re-visit us to check out our future posts.

I had heard nothing about possible treatments for COVID. I guess the desperate times call for desperate methods as FDA has approved its use during this tragedy. I still think you need to be very careful with these drugs as there hasn’t been enough testing. Let’s hope they come up with a vaccine fast so that we won’t have several waves to handle. Stay safe!
There has been quite a bit of contreversy and confusion in the media about the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine. But even though there may not have been enough testing done on hydroxychloroquine on COVID19 patients as the virus is new, the FDA will not emergency approve it if it beleived it was not effective at all and would have considered the tests already carried out mentioned in the article and other tests considered in the past by the FDA (as this has been an FDA approved malaria drug for many years) to grant emergency approval.
But as you correctly mentioned we need to be carefull with these drugs and any drugs for that matter and it is only for Doctors to decide when and whom to use this medicine on and should never be used by people without prescription and supervision of Doctor as it does not come without possible serious side-effects. Never the less, it is considered by the FDA at this stage as one of the top possible effective treatments for COVID19 and atleast that provides hope and promise.
Saying all this, we still have the responsibilty of keeping ourselves in Quarantine and our immune systems healthy and is always a good idea to explore natural remedies that can help keep our immune systems strong.
All the best,
I’m glad you’ve mentioned the side effects of Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ). You’ve also recommended people get screened before they take it. I appreciate you including this very important section. People should not be taking it without a doctor’s recommendation as the claims still haven’t undergone enough testing. My sister takes Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) for Lupus. People are now rushing out to get it after all the hype and that has made it difficult for those who need it to get it.
Hi, this is such a timely post as obviously the world is quite scary right now. There’s some fascinating info here, and I’m so glad to hear that there might be a drug capable of protecting people.
Obviously this isn’t widely available, so I really like that you’ve included some natural suggestions. Whilst at this stage, nothing is proven, as long as something isn’t harmful and it might do us some good to take, I say why not cover all bases 🙂 great article, thanks for the info 🙂
Thank you for expressing your opinion Natalie, you’ve appreciated the main aim of the article very well 😊..I’m glad that you enjoyed it and found it usefull.
Wishing you the best of health.
